Me Ol Bam Boo

Okay I won't lie. I have a deep love for the movie Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. If you havn't seen it....repent and go see it. :) The Dick van dyke version not the broadway version. There is a difference. When I was little this was my favorite movie in the whole world. This was one of my favorite songs from the movie along with Hushabye Mountain and You Two and Toot Sweets etc... This one is just so fun! Plus these songs were written by The Sherman Brothers and there has yet to be a song of theirs that I havn't LOVED!! Thank you Sherman Brothers for being so amazingly awesome! And before you all start thinking Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is a Disney movie let me stop you right there..... It is NOT a Disney movie! The Sherman Brothers are just that good. :) Enjoy! Until tomorrow I am The Music Nerd.

Nolita Fairytale

So I looked up the word 'Nolita' in the dictionary and it said: Did you mean 'Nolt'? Which means sing or neat cattle. :) Neat cattle huh? Well now that we know that Nolita dosn't have a meaning we can officially call this song Fairytale or Nothing fairytale.... or if we want to get really crazy we could use the meaning of the suggested word Nolt and say Sing Fairytale or Neat Cattle Fairytale. :) I still think Nolita (meaningless as it is) sounds better. So here is Nolita Fairytale. Until tomorrow I am The Music Nerd.

Molly Smiles

I won't lie. Today's song was almost going to be two different songs by The Bangles. Manic Monday or Walk Like An Egyptian. But I then happened upon this song and I just couldn't not put this song as the song of the day. I love love love this song! Happy Monday everyone! Until tomorrow I am The Music Nerd.

Sorry

Sorry. My main computer broke and all my music went down the drain with it. So that is why the last couple of days have been musicless. Right now all I feel like doing is eating chocolate pudding. Which I am going to do. Right now. Tomorrow I will find a song to do this tragedy justice. Until tomorrow I am The Music Nerd.

Copperline

Ahhhh Copperline by James Taylor is such a wonderful song. Soothing to me and also brings back childhood memories. Yes, childhood memories, my mom introduced this song to me. I love it! I remember singing this song in the car with my mom on the way to school every morning.... okay not every morning. I hope you all like it too. Until tomorrow I am The Music Nerd.

Dog Days Are Over

Did you watch The Voice a few nights ago? I would say last night but that's because I dvr'd it and just got around to watching it last night. I love DVR! I also love The Voice! If you havn't seen it you should catch up on Hulu or Youtube. It is so good! I guessed who would get eliminated every time correctly and so I am pretty happy with the results so far. This girl did such a good job on this song! I am not kidding! Watch the video I love the drums in this performance!
(Side note) So you will notice that a good chunk of songs are gone from the Grooveshark on the right... this was not my choice. Well kind of was. I went to add the song yesterday and Grooveshark said it's widgets were getting phased out. Well not really the widget part of the site was but we could still make widgets. Sigh... So I had to go and re add all the songs... so I didn't end up adding all of them... that is A Lot of songs. Sorry for the cut in songs. Until tomorrow I am The Music Nerd.

4:35 A.M.

I think of this song everytime I get up way to early with my kids or if I, for some reason, have to drive really early in the morning. When these things happen this song fits the time and mood. I love it so very much. I had a hard time finding a video so I would just listen to it on the Grooveshark. But if you want to watch the video that is okay too. Somebody out there also felt it needed a place on YouTube. So thanks to that person and thanks for Gemma Hayes for singing this song. It is beautiful. Until tomorrow I am The Music Nerd.

Heartless

I have been into watching the show The Voice lately. So far everything has turned out the way I want it to. We will see next week if it continues to go the way I picture it going. I am just happy Dia and Senya were both saved this last elimination round. They are my favorites! During the first round Dia Frampton sang her rendition of Heartless by The Fray and I loved her voice and the song. I was surprised I had never heard it before. So I give you the Music Video by The Fray and then a link to the version done by Dia Frampton. Watch both please! Until tomorrow I am The Music Nerd.

Waitin'

Apologies. My family came into town on Saturday so I have been pretty busy. But today I pick things back up and continue posting until my move. Happy belated Father's day to all you fathers out there! Hope you all had a great fathers day. I guess it is kind of funny the song of today is called Waitin'! You all had to wait two days for a new song of the day. The lyrics kind of go along to this fact. Anyway this song is pretty fun for working out or at least that is what i like it for. Hope you enjoy! Until tomorrow I am The Music Nerd.

Oh Oh Oh

Oh! Oh! Oh! I have a good song for you today! (Okay... I know that was corny) My grandfather a.k.a Palpaw always watched golf... probably still watches golf. He plays golf. He loves golf. I have many memories of my Palpaw... riding on his motorcycle, buying baseball cards, walking at the high school track, and golf. Anyway this song made me think of all those memories I have with my Palpaw and it is also just catchy. Enjoy! Until tomorrow I am The Music Nerd.

Singing In The Rain/Umbrella

Now I will preface this by saying that I do NOT actually watch the t.v. show Glee. I DO, however, look up the performances of some of the songs they do on the show. Confusing? I just like their versions of some of the songs. I just don't like the actual show. I know that some people actually love the show and that is okay by me. Not that you need my permission to watch it..... okay now that I have wove a tangle of confusing statements I will move on. I really liked the Glee version of Singing in the Rain. This is why it is the song of the day today. Funny that the yesterday and today's posts both have rain in the title! Crazy! So the first video is the Glee version and the second is Gene Kelly doing the original version. Enjoy! Until tomorrow I am The Music Nerd.

Don't Rain On My Parade

Life is getting crazy around here. Getting ready to move is always a crazy time. However I am so excited to be moving closer to family. So while i have been packing I had this song going through my head. Oh man how much I love Barbra Streisand songs! I am surprised it has taken me this long to post one on this (let's not joke around it's amazing) blog. Hope you all enjoy! This video is from her movie Funny Girl. Funny Girl is a pretty good movie. Forro De Sangue Novo

So today's song is for my husband. He went on his mission to Brazil and has a c.d. with some music he really likes. I find it catchy even though I don't understand a word they are saying. I hope to one day learn Portuguese so I can talk with my husband in another language. A bonus would be that I have always wanted to learn another language. If my husband was here at the moment I would even have him translate some of the lyrics for you. Alas he is not. I believe this is one of the songs that when he sang it in Brazil people laughed at him because they thought it was funny for a missionary to be singing it. Hope you all enjoy! Until tomorrow I am The Music Nerd.

The song as I have it on my computer starts at 1:46. But feel free to watch the whole video.

All The Pretty LIttle Ponies

Another post that brings me back to my childhood. Whenever I hear this song I think about my mother and my family. In a way it almost makes me sad because I miss them so very much. So obviously I always end up calling them after hearing this song. Oh how Kenny Loggins has touched my heart! I think I will go call my family now. Until tomorrow I am The Music Nerd.

So I assume I do not need to tell any of you where I found this song but for those of you who are still in the dark I will tell you I heard it on the new version of Alice in Wonderland. I just really like the sound of this song. Enjoy! Until tomorrow I am The Music Nerd.

White & Nerdy, Your Horoscope For Today, & Albuquerque

It is a triple feature day! No.... it's a Weird Al triple feature day! Sometimes we all just need a little comedic relief and Weird Al always delivers. So I thought I would offer you guys three songs: The first a parody of another song (the original I can't quite remember right now), The second and third song an original by Weird Al. All three of them are equally as funny. I hope you all take a moment from your day and laugh a little bit. Until tomorrow I am The Music Nerd.

Suds in the Bucket

Okay before you say anything I know this is the second country song I have posted in a row! And no. I am not going to make it a habit of posting only country songs. I just couldn't help myself today. After yesterday's Taylor Swift fever I thought about this song. It is a fun music video too! I hope you all like it! Unitil tomorrow I am The Music Nerd.

The Story of Us

I was perusing the top songs charts and discovered this little treasure. Then again who doesn't love Taylor Swift songs? I can't think of anyone.... well except for maybe some men I can think of... I also really like this music video. Even though it is kind of sad. The song itself is kind of sad in a way too. I don't know why I like it but I do. I think it's because of have Taylor Swift fever right now. Enjoy!

Tom's Diner

Alright I tried so very hard to find a good video for this song. But either there was no music with the voice or it was a very poorly done music video. I promise you can go look them up yourself but you won't find one that was blog worthy. I really like this song and how it is simple yet amazing. I think it is interesting how it is all about her time sitting in a diner. It really is just an interesting fun song. Hope you all love it like I do.

May It Be

Happy Sunday everyone! I think this song is good for Sunday because of how soothing and calming it is. Although to be quite honest when I hear this song I have a distinct memory come into mind. Back to my childhood I am sitting in the backseat of my Aunts car with my best friend cousin listeining to this song while my Aunt filled the car up with gas. It was thanksgiving day so we were headed to my house for a huge dinner! My cousin and I loved this song so much we played it over and over again and sang along. You may think I am bizarre to remember such a memory... it doesn't really strike even me as a moment in time to remember but I do. I have a bizarre memory what can I say. I must have been having a really good time or something to remember it so well. Does this song bring back any memories to you? Unitl tomorrow I am The Music Nerd.

Colleen

Today's song I will say I got from my brother. He has introduced me to a lot of music throughout my life. This is one in particular that I rather like. Joanna Newsom has a very lovely voice and plays the harp beauitfully! There are not a lot of music out there where you hear a harp played so prominently. I also love how her lyrics are poetry/story put to music. It is just so interesting on so many levels. If you like this you should look up some of her other stuff. I hope you all like this song. Not everyone has the stomach for this music. I know my husband doesn't like it all that much. Although I am sure if I asked him now he would say he did like it. Anyway, enjoy! Until tomorrow I am The Music Nerd.
** The first vidoe may have the better sound other than just litening to the Grooveshark and the second video is one of her playing it. Enjoy!

Kerosene

I really love how fun it is to sing a long to this song! I know it is a song about getting revenge on a person for cheating on her but other than that it is a fun song. I do not personally think revenge is good... EVER! But I like this song. Now that I have officially said I like this song about four or five times let me just shut my mouth and let you see for yourself. Until tomorrow I am The Music Nerd.

Happy Ending

I have to come to realize that this is the third song by MIKA that I have on this blog... I must really like this artist or something. I just love to sing this song at the top of my lungs as I am driving in my car. Happens a lot with me. It is really just a beautiful sounding song, has a nice mood, nice beat... and I love what it says. I hope you all like it as much as I do! And I am a nerd! Until tomorrow I am The Music Nerd.

In The Sun

Have you ever seen the movie "Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy"? If you havn't you should, it is hilarious. I think this girl singing is the same girl from that movie. I cannot be sure... oh wait no let me look it up! Be right back!.............. Oh yes it is the same girl... I looked it up. What a wonderful age we live in when all this information is at our fingertips. Anyway I happened upon this song one day and loved the music video. Plus I think the topic is kind of cute and funny. I cannot be sure if I LOVE love this song but I will give it a day to sink in. What do you think? Is this song great? good? Not so good? Let me know! I would love to hear your opinions!
